mom is back to work!

So I officially started work last week Monday. I really enjoy it and it is nice to get out of the house! I absolutly love picking up Donovan and have him smile when he sees me! He did really well with the transition, the baby sitter thinks he is such an easy baby! So nice to hear! He is more tired at night after daycare because of all the stimulation and the kids love him! He is the only baby so he gets a ton of attention! Now he gets bored easily with mommy! I am excited for it to get nice out so when can go for walks and do things outside, that will make a huge difference!

Payton on the otherhand is having more of a difficult time adjusting (big surprise!) to me being gone. Monday he chewed up a box and left cardboard all over the house, Tuesday he got into the garbage and ate a pork chop bone among other things, Thursday he chewed up two pads of paper from Tim's briefcase. So he is not handling it as well! This week so far so good, knock on wood.

Above are some pictures from and outfit Luke, Megan and Little Avery gave Donovan. It is Michigan colors, so he wore it the day Michigan played the Badgers in basketball. I must say he is quite adorable! It is amazing how much he has changed, and I can't believe he will be 3 months on Sunday! Tim is working on him to start crawling, he can't even sit up on his own yet, but Tim is convinced he is not a normal baby and he will be crawling in a few weeks. He can chase after him then!!

First shots

Donovan had his 8 week appointment yesterday. He actually will be 10 weeks on Sunday. He weighs 12 lbs 0 oz and is in the 50th percentile for height and weight. Just average, but not in my mind! He is quite an amazing little boy. Just when I think I couldn't fall in love anymore, I wake up the next morning and it happens again. Especially when he has a night like he did last night. It was probably from his traumatic experience with the shots, but he slept from 7:30 until 4:30 in the morning! I couldn't believe it, I went to check to see if he was still breathing at 3:30. There he was sleeping like an angel!

During his appointment he was smiley and cooing for the doctor. Then she gave him those nasty shots. He went from smiling to bright red in the face so pissed that he stopped breathing for a second, then let out a huge cry. NOt that I have never heard him cry before, but it is amazing how when he cries cause he hungry, wet, or tired you want to soothe him and do what it takes to make it better, but when he cries because he is in pain, wow it made my heart break and all I wanted to do was make it all better. He calmed down right when I picked him up. That in itself was amazing that someone can love you so much that they immediately feel better once they feel protected by you. AMAZING! Yesterday was the first day that I truly felt how much he loved me and relied on me. wouldn't trade that in for the world.
Tim and I went out to eat with my brother in law and sister in law, Mason and Michelle for Valentines Day, it was a lot of fun. Grandma Marco babysat! She was in heaven with my neice Jaelynn, Donovan, and Payton all to herself. I think she probably could have done without Payton, but we won't tell him that. JJ was a big help with Donovan, she rocked him (a little too hard) put his paci back in his mouth (a little too hard) but she loves her little cousin! She has a baby too and did whatever grandma did with Donovan, like rocked him, bounced him, shushed him. She is adorable!

I start work on MOnday, and although I am looking forward to getting out of the house, these past 10 weeks have been challenging, rewarding, joyful, and unforgettable. There is nothing like having your first child and those first few weeks at home. Donovan has taught me so much already. I will never forget this time we had together alone bonding, we had bad days and very good days, but everyday I feel blessed to have him in my life. I will miss him while I am at work and he is at daycare, but I know that going to pick him up will be the highlight of my day!

2 months old

Donovan is eight weeks old today! He has grown so much, I am looking forward to his appointment to see how much he has gained! He seems so much bigger now. He is smiling a ton and here is a video of it. You may need to mute your computer otherwise you will hear my annoying mommy voice trying to get him to smile.

The Ament family came to visit us last weekend, they have two kids 1 almost 4 Kaleb and 1 almost 1 1/2 Haley! It gave us an idea of what it would be like to have 3 kids under 4 years old! Totally CRAZY, but a lot of fun! Payton would be in constant seizure mode if that was the case everyday, I think he is happy with just one! I can't believe how much Kaleb has grown, I remember him as a newborn, and now he is talking, has a personality and is quite an active the little man! He was great with Donovan as well. Haley just loved Payton, could take her eyes off of him!

Donovan is progressing so much, he already has great control over his head, can stand on two feet (we of course need to be holding him), follows you with his eyes all over the room. It is so fun to see him do something one day that he couldn't do the day before! There must be a lot going on in that little brain of his!
